Treatment Instead of Prison (TIP) TASK FORCE

In mid-September, Wisconsin Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson sent out the “Chief Justice's September 2010 Task Force Report on Criminal Justice and Mental Health.” This report is available on their web page at www.wicourts.gov/about/organization/programs/altmentalhealth.

JUST COMMUNITY: A Celebration of Effective Justice In Eau Claire County was held at First Congregational UCC on Friday, October 22; here’s what Jackie Christner wrote on our JONAH Facebook group page the next day: “We had a great turnout for our JONAH Treatment Instead of Prison Just Community celebration forum yesterday! All three panels did super jobs and inspired good questions about Eau Claire County's treatment courts and restorative justice systems. Also, our Global Cafe discussion rounds were very animated, Judge Stark gave an inspiring address, and David Lingers a super summary and call to action. Rejoice!”

Economic Justice TASK FORCE (EJTF)

Current issues: Community Benefits Agreement, and micro-loans. (Editor’s note: stay tuned for the report I promised last time about the Sept 28th CBA Forum at the Community Table.)

Environmental Task Force (ETF)

A current project: setting up battery and light bulb recycling collection boxes at Unity Christ Center and other JONAH congregations.

Task Force Leaders: Please continue to send task force meeting minutes monthly for the JONAH records to Recording Secretary Sue S. at ssuechting@centurytel.net – thanks!
